Recurring

Subscriptions and failed payments

Recurring revenue only works if failed payments get chased automatically.

  • The Payment Received trigger fires on successful and failed attempts: filter by status
  • “Incomplete expired”: the first payment failed. “Overdue”: a renewal failed
  • Stripe subscription status and payments stay in sync with HighLevel
  • PayPal-created subscriptions don’t keep their status in sync
  • A Subscription trigger can react to subscription changes

HighLevel guides: subscriptions · Payment Received trigger.

Promotions

Gift cards and coupons

Gift cards

  • Amounts, expiry dates and artwork
  • Sell by link, embed, QR code or any checkout
  • Redeem on forms, funnels, links, invoices, the store, calendars and services
  • Full redemption: Stripe, NMI, Authorize.net, Square
  • Can’t buy a gift card with another gift card

Coupons

  • Codes applied at checkout to eligible products
  • Work on payment links
  • Pair with an expiry date on the link for limited offers

HighLevel guides: gift cards · selling gift cards.

E-commerce

Online store and abandoned checkout

  • A product catalogue with a cart, inside your HighLevel site
  • Abandoned-cart emails are on by default and send after 10 hours (adjustable)
  • An Abandoned Checkout trigger starts your own follow-up workflow
  • The Abandoned Checkouts page lists, filters and lets you copy a recovery link
  • Automatic recovery emails cover the store only: funnel order forms need a workflow
  • Big catalogues: HighLevel’s Shopify integration may suit better

How we set up payments for clients

GoHighLevel payments FAQ

Does GoHighLevel take payments?
Yes, on every plan. Connect your own payment provider (Stripe, PayPal, Square, NMI, Authorize.net and Razorpay) and take payments through payment links, funnel order forms, invoices, calendars, courses, an online store and the mobile app.
Which payment providers work with GoHighLevel?
Stripe, PayPal, Square, NMI, Authorize.net and Razorpay. What each supports varies by area, for example Stripe adds Apple Pay, Google Pay and ACH bank debit on invoices.
Who charges the processing fees?
Your payment provider, at its own rates (for example Stripe’s card fees). Compare providers before you connect one.
How do I create a payment link in GoHighLevel?
Create a product under Payments → Products, then create a payment link with it and share the URL. No website is needed. Payment links take automated methods like cards and PayPal, not bank transfers.
Can GoHighLevel take one-time and recurring payments?
Yes. Products can be one-time or recurring, and one payment link can combine several one-time products with one recurring product.
Can clients pay a deposit when they book?
Yes. Calendars can take full payment, a deposit (fixed or percentage) or save a card on file. The balance becomes a draft invoice you collect later.
Can I accept instalment payments?
Yes. Invoices support payment schedules that split the total into percentage or fixed-amount instalments with due dates.
How do I set up order bumps and one-click upsells?
In a V2 funnel: add main and bump products to the order form, then add an upsell step that charges the saved card in one click. Details in our funnels guide.
Does GoHighLevel recover abandoned checkouts?
For the online store, yes: abandoned-cart emails are on by default and send after 10 hours, and an Abandoned Checkout trigger can start a workflow. Funnel order forms need your own follow-up workflow.
Can I issue refunds inside GoHighLevel?
Yes, from Payments → Transactions, or in your payment provider’s dashboard.
How do I handle failed subscription payments?
Use the Payment Received trigger filtered to failed payments to text and email an update-card link, then alert your team if it’s still unpaid. “Overdue” marks a failed renewal; “Incomplete expired” means the first payment failed.
Do PayPal subscriptions sync with GoHighLevel?
No. Stripe subscription status and payments stay in sync, but subscriptions created through PayPal don’t keep their status in sync.
Can I connect payments to contacts and deals?
Yes. Payments sit on the contact, and a Payment Received or Invoice Paid trigger can mark the opportunity Won and start onboarding.
Does GoHighLevel handle sales tax?
It can apply manual tax rates you set, or international automatic taxes across funnels, links, invoices, estimates and the store. You remain responsible for filing and paying the tax.
Can I sell gift cards in GoHighLevel?
Yes. Create gift card products with amounts, expiry and artwork, sell them by link, embed or QR code, and let customers redeem them across checkouts. Full redemption support needs Stripe, NMI, Authorize.net or Square.
Can I use coupon codes?
Yes. Coupon codes apply at checkout to eligible products, including on payment links.
Can I take payments in person?
Yes: the mobile app’s point of sale with Tap to Pay or a card reader. Square Tap to Pay is iPhone-only (iPhone XS or newer, iOS 16.4+).
Can I connect two Stripe accounts to one sub-account?
No. Each sub-account connects one Stripe account at a time; PayPal can run alongside one other provider.
Will my old Stripe payments show in GoHighLevel?
No. Payments made in Stripe before you connected aren’t imported; only new transactions through HighLevel are tracked.
Can payments sync to QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes. HighLevel integrates with QuickBooks (sent, pending and paid invoices) and Xero.
