The real benefit

What happens after someone pays

Stripe takes the money. HighLevel turns the payment into the next step.

Before you connect

Six Stripe limits most guides don’t mention

Accounts

One Stripe per sub-account

Two brands with two Stripe accounts need two sub-accounts.

History

Old payments don’t import

Only transactions through HighLevel after you connect are tracked.

Products

Only subscriptions import

Recurring products import from Stripe; one-time products are rebuilt in HighLevel.

BNPL

Klarna isn’t everywhere

Not on recurring invoices, calendars, courses or POS.

Test mode

Test and Live are separate

Payment methods are set per mode. Check you’re in Live before launch.

Combining

PayPal + one other only

Stripe and NMI together aren’t supported; PayPal can pair with either.

Setup

How to connect Stripe to GoHighLevel

From HighLevel’s Stripe guide. About five minutes if your Stripe account is verified.

  1. Step 1

    Open the sub-account

Go to Payments → Integrations inside the sub-account (not agency settings).

  2. Step 2

    Connect with Stripe

Click Connect, log in to Stripe (or create an account) and authorise HighLevel.

  3. Step 3

    Choose payment methods

Click Manage to switch on Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna or ACH where available.

  4. Step 4

    Test, then go live

Run a test-mode payment through an order form and an invoice, then switch to Live.

Other options

When to use another payment provider

Stick with Stripe if…

  • You want wallets, buy-now-pay-later or ACH
  • You sell subscriptions and courses
  • Stripe supports your country

Consider another provider if…

  • Stripe isn’t available where you are (Razorpay, Square)
  • You already have a merchant account (NMI, Authorize.net)
  • Customers prefer PayPal (pair it with one other)

What users ask

GoHighLevel payment questions, answered

From Reddit threads that rank on Google and HighLevel’s documentation.

  • “How do you handle failed subscription payments?”

An r/gohighlevel thread that ranks for cancel-subscription searches.

Fix Trigger a workflow on failed payment: text and email the customer an update-card link, then alert your team after 3 days.

  • “How do I get Shopify sales into GHL?”

Ranks #2 for “shopify integrated with gohighlevel” (320/mo).

Fix Send orders to HighLevel with a webhook or an integration tool so they create or update contacts. HighLevel also has a guide for moving a Shopify store into its own store.

  • “My old Stripe customers aren’t showing up”

    A common surprise after connecting.

Fix Expected: HighLevel only tracks payments made through it after connection. Import the customers as contacts by CSV.

  • “Can I use Stripe and NMI at the same time?”

Agencies with high-risk merchants ask this.

Fix Not together. PayPal can pair with one other provider; two non-PayPal providers can’t run at once.

Expert take

How to set up Stripe in HighLevel properly

GoHighLevel Stripe integration FAQ

Does GoHighLevel integrate with Stripe?
Yes. Each sub-account connects one Stripe account under Payments → Integrations, then uses it for invoices, payment links, order forms, forms, stores, calendars, courses and communities.
Do I need Stripe to take payments in GoHighLevel?
No. HighLevel also supports PayPal, Authorize.net, NMI, Square and Razorpay. Stripe has the widest coverage, including wallets, buy-now-pay-later and ACH.
Can I connect more than one Stripe account?
Not to the same sub-account: each sub-account connects one Stripe account at a time. Separate businesses or brands should use separate sub-accounts.
Does HighLevel charge a fee on Stripe payments?
HighLevel’s Stripe documentation doesn’t list a HighLevel transaction fee. Stripe’s own processing fees apply, and they vary by country and payment method. Check your Stripe dashboard to see the fees on each charge.
Will my old Stripe payments show in HighLevel?
No. Payments made directly in Stripe before you connected aren’t imported; only new transactions through HighLevel are tracked.
Can I import my Stripe products?
Recurring (subscription) products can be imported from Stripe. One-time products are created directly in HighLevel.
Does HighLevel support Apple Pay, Google Pay or Klarna?
Yes, through Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay work across most checkouts; Klarna, Affirm and Afterpay work on order forms, invoices, payment links and stores, but not on recurring invoices, calendars or courses.
Can I take ACH bank payments?
Yes, Stripe ACH direct debit works on one-time and recurring invoices.
Can I use PayPal and Stripe together?
Yes. PayPal can run alongside one other provider such as Stripe or NMI. Two non-PayPal providers together, such as Stripe and NMI, aren’t supported.
Can I test payments before going live?
Yes. Stripe Test Mode simulates payments without charging real cards. Payment methods are set separately for Test and Live, so check which mode you’re in before launch.
